(STATE) CIVIL RIGHTS INITIATIVE: This proposal would make illegal the consideration of affirmative action as a factor in the make up or governance of any governmental agency or entity in Michigan. The proposal does not apply to any private enterprise or organization.
THE CIVIL RIGHTS ACT OF 1964 = The core and key Federal Statute providing for enforcement of the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments to the U.S. Constitution
EEOC = The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. A Federal Agency in the US Department of Commerce that is responsible for ensuring that all transactions in interstate commerce adhere to the employment rules, regulations, and policies that derive from statutory law or court decisions based on the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
MBE = A minority business enterprise, which is defined as a business owned and operated by a member of a minority group as defined in Section 8a of the Civil Rights Act of 1964
Minority Content = An enumerated portion of a government contract (usually between 5 and 20% of the total) that a bidder must agree to subcontract to a minority business enterprise where such enterprises exist.
BAMN = By Any Means Necessary: This is an organized group led by a white lawyer that purports to be a support group for minorities “organized” to “stop” the passage of the CRI’s in each state.
Editors' note: And they mean that. Apparently "any means necessary" translates into riots, protests, stealing, intimidation, vandalism, deception, frivolous lawsuits, and bussing in loads high school students led in chants by leftist whites. Police protection is often needed when BAMN makes appearances to "protect" equality. When anyone disagrees with them, they shout him or her down, proving that they are interested in equality only for those who already agree with them.
MMBDC = The Michigan Minority Business Development Council. This is a non-governmental, non-profit organization that has taken it upon itself to make rules and regulations governing the certification of businesses as minority owned and operated.
NMBDC = The National Minority Business Development Council. This is the national
parent of the MMBDC
OMBE = Office of Minority Business Enterprise. An agency within the EEOC that promotes the creation and maintenance of minority business enterprises (MBEs).
SBA = Small Business Administration. This agency is part of the EEOC, and was set up specifically to enable business and individuals with a net worth of (now) less than $250,000.00 to have a sympathetic lending institution from which to obtain start-up (seed) capital and working capital. Government contracts often state they have “set-asides” for small and minority businesses, and SBA financing is particularly focused on enabling small and minority businesses to participate in such contracts.
